The NED show is coming to ABS!
ABS students in grades 2-5 will attend the NED show on April 16. NED's Resiliency Ride, is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. During the assembly, students will learn about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks. For more information about the NED Show visit their website. The performance comes to us free of charge with an agreement that we will sell yo-yo’s to support the program. If you are interested in purchasing yo-yo’s for your student they will be available in the front offices.
End of the Year MAP Testing continues
ABS uses Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) to assess each student’s academic growth. We give students in grades 3-8 MAP tests to determine each child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of math and reading. Your child will take the tests on a computer. MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. And with MAP tests, we can administer shorter tests and use less class time while still receiving detailed, accurate information about your child’s growth. Test results will be sent home in Thursday Packets after testing is completed.
Student Achievement in Reading
Middle of the Year (MOY) mClass Reading tests were administered during January for students in grades K-3. These assessments are required by the State. Results for assessments are provided to parents after testing is completed. Here are the National and State comparisons of DIBEL MOY testing results data. ABS students outperform state and national averages in reading at each grade level. Congratulations to our students and our teachers for their hard work!
