Lisa Hendrix – Middle School Math Teacher
Lisa began teaching math at The Arts Based School in the spring of 2018. Before coming to ABS, she taught 6th to 9th grade mathematics in WS/FC Schools. Lisa holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Graphic Design, and prior to teaching she worked as a usability engineer, designing web applications. Later, she returned to school to pursue a teaching license in mathematics and earned a Master’s in Secondary Education from Salem College. Lisa grew up as an “army brat” and lived in regions spanning the United States. In addition, she has enjoyed traveling to a number of foreign countries.
LeeAnn Farrell – Middle School Social Studies Teacher
LeeAnn has been a part of the ABS family for the last 11 years and is now excited to bring her passion for history to our middle school. She received both an undergraduate degree in History and a Masters of Education from Salem College. LeeAnn is a National Board Certified teacher as well. Much of her free time is spent keeping up with her three teenage daughters and new son. She enjoys sewing, reading historic fiction novels and traveling with her family.
Jennifer Lewis – Middle School Math Teacher
Jennifer Lewis begins her 3rd year at ABS, working with middle school students in mathematics. She teaches the advanced high school courses, Math 1 and Math 2, and leads small groups of 6th graders in enrichment activities. Mrs. Lewis is also working with 7th and 8th grade students in Math Lab once a week. She has 19 years of teaching experience, ranging from 4th – 12th grade, and carries a special love for Algebra. Mrs. Lewis is married, has 3 children, 1 son-in-law, and most recently became a grandmother. Her family raises Golden doodles and Golden Retrievers and she loves to sew and spend time outside.
Lenora McNamara – Middle School Language Arts Teacher
Lenora is looking forward to a new year on the middle school team for her 13th year at ABS. She attended Wake Forest University where she studied Education with a concentration in English Language Arts. She received her Master’s Degree from UNCG, and is a National Board Certified Teacher. When not teaching, she enjoys reading, yoga, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband, son, and new baby girl.
