Gail Boaz – Middle School Math Teacher
Gail Boaz joins the Middle School Team at the Arts Based School with over ten years of teaching experience at the high school and community college levels. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in math from Davidson College and a Master of Arts degree in higher education from Appalachian State University. Ms. Boaz is a proud mom of a daughter, Ruth, and a son, David. Ruth is a nurse in Winston-Salem, and David is an attorney in Raleigh. Ms. Boaz’ goals at ABS are to participate in integrated learning with other subjects, to teach reading math as a study skill, and to use project based learning as a way to demonstrate the relevancy of math in our world. She loves to read, cook, walk in her neighborhood, and go to the theater.
Kimberly Dickson – Middle School Science Teacher
Kimberly Dickson has been happily educating middle level students for over 13 years. She has a Master of Education degree with a concentration in math and science curriculum. Mrs. Dickson is a happily married mother of two children. Nicole lives and works in Charlotte and Carter is a sophomore at A.U. in SC. She enjoys an active classroom environment and sees her teaching role to be one of guide and mentor as students learn to become responsible for their own learning and empowered as they prepare to enter high school.
LeeAnn Farrell – Middle School Social Studies Teacher
Ms. Farrell received her undergraduate and Masters of Education degrees from Salem College. Her Masters Degree focused on language and literacy for children kindergarten through twelfth
Jennifer Lewis – Middle School Math Teacher
Mrs. Lewis has been hired to teach middle school math for 7th and 8th graders. She is a veteran math teacher with 17 years of experience having taught math at Ravenscroft in Raleigh, East Wake Middle School, and most recently Southern Guildford High School. She is an educator, an artist and a small business owner. We are delighted to have her on the ABS team.
Lenora McNamara – Middle School Language Arts Teacher
Mrs. McNamara earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Wake Forest University and her M.Ed. in Elementary Mathematics at UNC-Greensboro. She is National Board certified as a Middle Childhood Generalist. Her teaching passions are literacy and math, and emphasizing problem-solving, creativity, team-work and real-world applications through the arts. When not teaching, she loves reading, swimming, cooking, traveling, music, yoga, and spending time with her husband and son. This will be her 11th year at ABS, where she has taught 3rd and 4th grade.
