Robin Hollis – Principal
Robin has the honor of spending her days in the presence of children. As the principal of the Arts Based School since March 2003, its first year of operation, she has helped to bring the school to life, translating from the paper charter to the real life operations of a vibrant, enlivened learning place. Mrs. Hollis is a happily married mother of two wonderful children. She enjoys playing guitar and writing in her free time.
Mary Siebert – Arts Director
Mary has been with ABS since it began. She develops creative ways to integrate the arts into academic learning, connecting local artists, arts organizations, colleges and businesses with the school. She helps introduce children to masterworks from many times and cultures, produces our original productions, and writes “How We Do It and Why” for ABS’ Thursday Notes. She was a National Winner of the Metropolitan Opera competition, and has sung opera, concerts, musicals, and jazz, professionally for decades. Her writing has been published in Parenting and Cosmopolitan magazines. She loves hiking, running, horses, reading and writing, and lives in Lewisville with her “foodie” husband and daughter.
Paige Raper – Assistant Principal
Paige loves spending her days with the students at ABS! She grew up in New York before moving to North Carolina in 1998. She received a B.A. at Colgate University in upstate New York and her Master’s degree at Salem College. Mrs. Raper enjoys spending time outside of school with her husband and two boys. She loves knitting, quilting, reading and traveling.
Donna Brown – Administrative Assistant
Donna is the Administrative Assistant for the 7th Street campus. She loves working with the students in the middle school grades and enjoys seeing their growth each year. In her spare time Donna enjoys vlogging, photography, video games and spending time with her family.
Hannah Brown – Administrative Assistant
Hannah is the Administration Assistant for the MLK building. She graduated from Shorter University in Georgia with a degree in Theater, concentrating in stage management. She’s excited to use her organizational skills and love of all things creative at ABS. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, journaling and local coffee shops.
As the Operations Manager, Stephanie is responsible for the safety of our facility and the success of our day to day operations. She also oversees enrollment, our substitute teaching program and is known for rallying volunteers for school-wide needs. As the Director of the ABS Before & After School Care Program, Stephanie is responsible for the overall administration of the operation, including the development and management of services. Stephanie received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, sewing, and spending time with family and friends.
Angela Wise – Finance Manager
Angela has been with the school since its first year of operation. As the Finance Manager she is responsible for payroll, accounts payable, audits, and contracts. She is a mother of three. She enjoys reading and writing poetry, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Ellen Coble – Development Director
Ellen Coble has had a long and successful career in Winston-Salem with Wachovia Bank, Forsyth Medical Center Foundation, and most recently with Hospice & Palliative Care Center. As Executive Director of The Hospice Foundation, Ellen led the creation of the fundraising program, enhancing charitable giving and growth of the Foundation’s endowment. She is happy to begin a new chapter of her fundraising career in the creative environment at The Arts Based School. Ellen is married and has two grown daughters. Her joy and passion come from meeting new people and serving in the music program at her church, where she is a leader of the children’s choir and sings in the adult choir. She also enjoys walking, Pilates, reading, and anything connected with music.
Leah Lavin – Associate Director of Development
Leah joins ABS with more than 10 years of experience in non-profit and independent school fundraising, from Washington, D.C. to Hawaii. She is delighted to be a part of the team at Arts-Based School, where she is also a current parent. Leah writes grants and helps to build a reliable base of support for the school. She enjoys writing, reading, music, people, and houseplants.
