Meet our kindergarten teachers

Ashley Rudd – Kindergarten Teacher
Ashley graduated from Appalachian State University with a M.A. in Special Education and has a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from UNC Greensboro. She is passionate about working with children and strives to bring a creative and exciting approach to education. Outside of school, Ashley enjoys reading, going to the park with her dogs Lollipop & Tutu, and spending time with her family and friends.

Matthew Greene- Kindergarten Teacher

Trish Goldberg – Kindergarten Teacher
Trish begins her 6th year with our school. Trish graduated with a BA from Salem College in Design and also has a Masters of Teaching from Salem College along with state licensure for K-6 Education. She loves literacy, the arts, spending time outdoors and finding ways to combine all three. Trish feels Kindergarten is a very special niche in children’s lives where they should be nurtured, appreciated for their uniqueness and encouraged to grow.  Trish is not only a staff member but the parent of an ABS alum and a current middle schooler. When not teaching, Trish enjoys pursuing abstract art, visual literacy techniques and time with her family and dogs.

Melissa Scott – Kindergarten Teacher Assistant
Melissa is thrilled to be cast in two roles at the Arts Based School, parent (to ABS students, Annabelle and Leo), and teaching assistant. Melissa values making connections with people. She loves to bake (food is one of her strongest love languages!) and read aloud. Melissa’s favorite things: going on adventures with her people, singing, hiking to waterfalls, jumping into Buzzards Bay in June, and butter.
