We will also be trading some spaces to create a dedicated dance studio, giving us school-wide access to the theater without disrupting dance classes.

Back to School Night-Save the Date!
ABS Back to School Night is scheduled for Monday, August 15. To ease parking, we have scheduled three sessions- K-2 grade will attend 5-6pm and 3-4th grade will attend 6-7pm. Grades 5-8 will attend Back to School night 7-8pm in the 7th St building. The first part of each session will be a presentation about school wide information. The second part of the session will be in your child’s classroom.
Who’s My Teacher?
Classroom teachers met with the grade level team before school was out to create the class rosters for next year. They use all that they know about your child’s academic, social, emotional, and behavioral qualities to determine which classroom is the best match. Parent requests received before May 1st are also considered along with other information. To find out your classroom assignment for next year, class lists will be posted on the ABS website when all teachers have been hired.
Summer packets will be mailed out in July to new students. Please read and complete these forms before the first day of school. You may return these to the front office during summer hours or during Back to School night. If you are the parent of a new student and did not receive your summer packet, please contact Stephanie LeFever at email@example.com
How Did We Do?
Each year we conduct a parent satisfaction survey and a student survey (grades 2-8) to gauge our success from your perspectives. We also use these results to understand what’s working and what’s not working as well as we’d like. Of the 384 families, 146 parents responded. Overall, 93% of parents are satisfied with the education experience of ABS. I’ve attached a summary of both surveys if you’re interested in the questions and the results.

Educational research shows that the relationship between the student and his or her teacher is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic success. This critical relationship is enhanced by our small class size and our educators’ commitment to children. In support of the teacher/student relationship, our teachers will be offering a Special Visit before school begins. A Special Visit is simply an opportunity for your child to meet his or her teacher in a familiar setting, a chance to learn a bit about the class and what to expect in the coming school year. The Special Visit can be set up to occur in your home, here at the school, or on the phone. This year’s scheduled days for Special Visits are August 11 and 12, 2016. Your child’s teacher will be contacting you to schedule a 15-20 minute appointment.
